The University of Cyprus (UCY), a core partner in the 6G-LEADER project, successfully showcased the future of wireless communications at the European Researchers’ Night 2025 in Cyprus on September 26th. The event, organised in Cyprus by the Research and Innovation Foundation, provided an platform to connect groundbreaking research with the public.

The UCY team hosted a dynamic booth under the Faculty of Engineering, focusing its activities on the theme of Smart Cities. Throughout the day, researchers engaged with a diverse audience, including curious school children in the morning and the general public throughout the afternoon. The team prepared several interactive activities designed to explain complex research concepts in a straightforward, accessible manner.

A particular highlight was the live demonstration of wireless power transfer, which generated significant interest and questions from visitors. The UCY researchers noted that the public was “especially impressed” by the technology. The team successfully used the event to share their passion and expertise on technologies that are key to the 6G-LEADER mission and the evolution of future networks.

Visitors discovered UCY’s work across a spectrum of innovations, including 6G and beyond technologies, wireless power transfer, quantum computing, and fluid antennas. By presenting project posters and flyers, the UCY team effectively conveyed how the 6G-LEADER project is developing AI/ML-driven, sustainable, and energy-efficient 6G solutions to ensure Europe remains at the forefront of global technological development. It was an inspiring day that successfully brought research to life and fostered a sense of excitement for the future of STEM!
