Exploring the future of connectivity at EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025

This year’s EuCNC & 6G Summit, held in the vibrant city of Poznań, brought together researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers from across Europe and beyond to exchange knowledge and align on the next frontier of connectivity. As one of the key annual events supported by the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU), the summit once again highlighted how collaborative research and innovation will shape the evolution of 6G technologies.

The 2025 edition offered a rich mix of keynotes, technical workshops, panels, and demonstrations, covering core areas like AI-native networking, secure and trustworthy communications, integrated sensing, sustainability, and intelligent orchestration. Sessions explored how to future-proof infrastructure, maximize spectrum efficiency, and prepare Europe for advanced, software-defined networks. Throughout the week, our partners actively engaged in discussions, panels, and informal networking opportunities, introducing 6G-LEADER’s focus areas and gathering valuable input on how similar efforts across Europe are approaching common challenges.

Our presence at this year’s event came through 6G-LEADER’s consortium partners (including F6S, UC3M, DICAT, SRS, CNIT, ACC, NOKIA, MB) who joined the broader research community to build awareness, project our ambitions, and align with strategic goals across the SNS JU ecosystem. While 2025 was not a year of formal demonstrations for our project, it was an essential moment to connect with peer initiatives, gather insights, and share our perspectives on where 6G is heading.

Among the event’s many highlights were:

A keynote on Radio Spectrum Policy in the European Union by Aleksander Sołtysik, offering a comprehensive overview of how strategic spectrum management underpins Europe’s digital ambitions. The talk highlighted the decision-making ecosystem from the Radio Spectrum Policy Group to the CEPT and underlined the critical role of efficient spectrum use in ensuring fast, reliable, and equitable connectivity.

Panel discussions on cybersecurity and trust in the 6G era, which focused on embedding resilience, data integrity, and user privacy into future network designs; and on evaluating progress in 6G research in Europe, offering a roadmap for aligning national and EU-level initiatives and reinforcing global leadership.

A wide array of workshops provided practical insights across emerging research fields, such as:

  • Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) and hardware evolution, supporting the development of intelligent, modular architectures;
  • AI-based orchestration and explainable AI, tackling the challenge of making automated networks transparent and adaptive;
  • Sustainable network design, exploring methodologies to reduce energy footprints and integrate circularity into future infrastructures;
  • Digital twin applications, demonstrating how predictive models and real-time feedback loops can revolutionize network planning and performance.

As 6G-LEADER moves into its next phases, we are committed to contributing to the broader community dialogue with concrete technical progress and collaborative outcomes.

We are already looking ahead to the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2026, which will take place in Málaga, Spain. Next year, we will return not only to engage, but to showcase our project’s achievements, technical results, and tangible contributions to Europe’s 6G vision.

The 6G-LEADER project is a Horizon Europe SNS JU-funded initiative aimed at developing AI-driven, sustainable, and energy-efficient 6G networks. With a consortium of 18 leading academic, research, and industry partners, the project seeks to revolutionize wireless communication, ensuring Europe’s leadership in 6G technology.
