6G-LEADER 1st General Assembly in Coimbra
Seven months after its official launch in January 2025, the 6G-LEADER project reached a significant milestone this week, holding its highly anticipated 1st General Assembly Meeting in the city of Coimbra.
From July 16th to 17th, consortium partners from across Europe converged at the heart of Portuguese academia and innovation to review initial progress and collectively set the strategic course for the project, driven by a shared vision for the future of connectivity.
The 6G-LEADER project’s mission is clear: to drive the development and implementation of 6G technology, enabling smarter, faster, and more sustainable connectivity solutions worldwide. Our vision is to be at the forefront of 6G innovation, creating a connected future that fosters global collaboration, inclusivity, and technological advancement for all.
This two-day assembly marked a crucial phase in realizing these overarching goals. With a strong focus on Learning-Driven and Evolved Radio (LEADER), the project aims to revolutionize the physical and radio access network (PHY and RAN) aspects of future networks. This includes developing Machine Learning empowered PHY algorithms for autonomous operations and exploring full-duplex transceivers with novel sparse antenna arrays and advanced digital self-interference cancellation.
The meeting provided an invaluable platform for the diverse consortium of 18 leading academic, research, and industry partners to review initial progress, align on strategic objectives, strengthen collaborations, refine technical roadmaps and plan future research activities.
The enthusiasm and expertise brought by each project partner were visible, highlighting the collective commitment to shape the future of connectivity.
More than just advancing technology, 6G-LEADER is about creating meaningful, lasting impacts across society, the economy, and the environment!
